Increasing community access to school sporting facilities across Western Australia.
The Community Use of School Sporting Facilities Program encourages partnerships and agreements between schools and community sporting groups to better utilise existing sporting facilities.
The program, developed by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) and the Department of Education, will identify, expand and enhance opportunities to:
- increase access to sporting facilities for community sporting groups
- improve school sporting facilities and their useability
- support schools in making their sporting facilities accessible outside school hours without compromising student safety or educational activities
- encourage partnerships between schools and community sporting groups through community use agreements
- focus on areas of high demand for community sporting facilities.
The funding will be allocated to ensure facilities are appropriate and accessible for community sporting use.

Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme
Funding always openThe Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme provides funding assistance to regional Western Australian athletes who aspire to reach their full sporting potential.
The Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme (ATSS) is an initiative supporting regional athletes who have progressed into the high performance pathway of their chosen sport and are pursuing regional, state and national representation.
Eligible regional athletes can receive funding for out-of-pocket travel and accommodation expenses directly related to competitions and programs in accordance with the performance level categories and eligibility criteria outlined in the application guidelines.
Subsidies for regional athletes are provided through the WA Government’s Royalties for Regions Program.

Funding round closedThe Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) exemplifies the Western Australian Government's commitment to the development of sustainable infrastructure for sport and recreation across the State.
The purpose of the program is to provide Western Australian Government financial assistance to community groups and local government authorities to develop basic infrastructure for sport and recreation.
The program aims to increase participation in sport and recreation, with an emphasis on physical activity, through rational development of sustainable, good quality, well-designed and well-utilised facilities.
Through CSRFF, the State Government will invest annually in the development of high-quality physical environments in which people can enjoy sport and recreation.
There is $20 million available for allocation in the 2025/2026 funding round.

Sport and Recreation Inclusive Participation Program

The Sport and Recreation Inclusive Participation Program (IPP) provides financial support to organisations to create inclusive, accessible, safe and welcoming environments, operations and participation opportunities in sport and recreation settings for people from low participation groups.
This includes support to provide entry level or skill development participation opportunities, education and training opportunities for the sport and recreation workforce, including volunteers, and develop partnerships with a minimum of one other organisation.
CITS is seeking applications for projects ranging from 1 to 3 years that will support participation for all in sport and recreation activities by reducing the barriers to participation for low participation groups across Western Australia.
