Creative Industries Travel and Trade Program

Grants to support regional, national and international travel opportunities. 

Offering grants of up to $5000 for regional/national opportunities and up to $10,000 for international opportunities.  

This program supports the Western Australian Government’s vision for a strong and diversified economy by fostering a vibrant and creative sector. 

The program’s key focus is to support applicants to respond to and capitalise on significant career and business opportunities by supporting their travel related costs. 

Projects must involve West Australian artists, art workers and small creative businesses who maintain professional arts and creative practices.  

Proposed activities should align with the WA Government’s priorities, and benefit the broader community. 

Eligibility

Individual artists and arts workers, groups and creative organisations are welcome to apply to this program however:  

  • you must be based in Western Australia 
  • you can only apply for travel, accommodation and freight related costs 
  • you must provide at least 20% income in your budget 
  • if you are considering submitting an administered/auspiced grant you must contact the department before commencing your application 
  • CITS multi-year funded organisations, organisations receiving CITS operational support funding, National Performing Arts Partnership Framework funded organisations and CITS portfolio organisations are not eligible to apply to this program

How do I apply for a Travel and Trade grant?

1. Apply using the online grant portal

2. Read the program guidelines and application manual

3. Upload support materials

  • You will need to upload support material with your grant application
  • Check the Program Guidelines and start organising the support materials early on.

4. Assessment of your application

  • Your application will be assessed and scored against Quality, Reach, Good Planning and Financial Responsibility
  • The outcome will be emailed to you approximately 28 days after your submission date.

5. Successful grant applications

  • If your application is successful, you will be sent a contract to sign and return.
  • Your payment will be then be processed. This can take 2 to 3 weeks.

6. Acquittal

  • Successful applicants will need to acquit their grant in the online grants portal within 90 days of finishing the activity. 
  • Remember to:
    • keep your invoices for major expenses
    • document your activity
