Game On, Girls: Empowering teenage girls through sport

Boosting participation, retention and engagement of girls aged 13 to 17 in club sport.

Game On, Girls is all about boosting participation, retention and engagement of girls aged 13 to 17 in club sport.

We want to break barriers and nurture lasting connections to club-based sport through inclusive, supportive and empowering environments.

What's in it for my club?

Your club can access grant funding and tailored capacity-building support designed to help you create inclusive environments and programs where girls can truly thrive in sport.

This is an opportunity to strengthen your club’s culture, attract new members, and build a reputation as a leader in inclusion.

Through the Game On, Girls initiative, sporting clubs can apply for grants from $1,500 up to $5,000.

These grants can assist your club in developing innovative and inclusive programs, adapting formats to better meet the needs of girls, and providing resources that make participation fun, safe and sustainable.

Beyond funding, your club will benefit from guidance and tools to:

  • grow participation by creating welcoming spaces for girls
  • enhance retention through programs that reflect what girls want from sport
  • build capacity with practical support and best-practice strategies
  • strengthen community connections by championing diversity and inclusion.

This is more than a grant, it’s an investment in your club’s future and the next generation of female athletes.

Sporting clubs can apply for Game On, Girls grants of up to $5,000 to assist in harnessing ways to develop inclusive programs and formats.

This can range from $1,500 to $5,000.

Get your game on, girls

Game On, Girls is a call to action.

Whether you're a parent, coach, club leader or teen girl ready to get back in the game, we’re here to help you thrive.

As well as the grant program, we’re helping to build confident girls and capable clubs that provide participation opportunities tailored to young girls.

Building confident girls

To develop their confidence and resilience, we’ll be offering a leadership program targeted at girls aged 13 to17.

The program will teach practical leadership skills through an inclusive and accessible blended delivery model that will be available to metropolitan and regional participants.

It will help girls build confidence, speak up, and imagine future opportunities - especially girls who face social, cultural, or location based barriers to taking part in sport.

Building confident sporting clubs

We’ll be delivering a series of workshops and webinars to help sporting clubs across WA create safe, welcoming and inclusive environments for teenage girls.

These sessions will support clubs, State sporting associations and industry stakeholders to better understand the barriers that impact girls participation in sport and provide practical, evidence-informed tools they can use to put inclusive practices into everyday club activities.

This capacity-building stream complements the Game On, Girls grants and leadership program by strengthening sporting clubs alongside the girls they support.
