Merredin Community Art Trail

Creative Communities COVID-19 Recovery Program.

Merredin Regional Arts undertook a bold project to engage local and regional artists with community groups, local business and residents through a series of workshops to generate a locally produced public art trail for the Merredin region. The aim was to build a public art trail, to get as much art as they could into the Merredin CBD area. This included the development of two significant murals, painted by hundreds of community members, old and young.

The community mural painting day was a rewarding experience for all who were involved. It was incredible that people from all walks of life and ages picked up a paintbrush and a pot of paint to contribute to painting the murals. One of the murals is a semi-photorealistic interpretation of Bates Street Merredin in 1930s, a lasting tribute to a formative time in the town.
