Who we are and how to contact us 

The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) is a department of the Government of the State of Western Australia dedicated to championing, supporting and growing sectors and communities in the portfolios of Creative Industries, Tourism, Sport and Recreation and Multicultural Interests.

Why we collect your personal information 

We collect the information you provide to assess and manage your application for the grant program to which you apply and, if successful, to administer the grant (for example, contracting, payments, progress and acquittal reporting). We may also use de‑identified results to evaluate and improve the program.  

Please note that if you are a peer assessor, this collection notice does not apply to you. A collection notice is available in the Peer Assessors Handbook, your expression of interest form or on request from CITS. 

Where we collect your personal information from 

We generally collect information directly from you. We may also receive information from letters of support authors, referees, partner or venue contacts, co‑funders you name used in your application, and publicly available professional sources so we can assess and verify your application. 

Who we share your personal information with  

Typical recipients include external assessors, our grants and IT service providers, auditors and integrity/assurance functions, and (where relevant) named delivery partners or co‑funders, as well as other WA Government entities or statutory authorities involved in administering, monitoring or reporting on the program, or where required or authorised by law.  

We may disclose relevant personal information in briefings to relevant Ministerial offices where your application, funding decision, or related issues are the subject of ministerial correspondence or parliamentary processes. We will share only what is reasonably necessary for that purpose. 

If you are successful, we routinely publish the recipient name (or organisation), project title/description and amount awarded on our website and in the Annual Report. Separately, we will only pass your phone/email to media if you have expressly consented to this.  

If you are successful, we may publish your name (or organisation name), project title, amount awarded and broad project description (for transparency about public funding).  

If you don’t provide your personal information

If you do not provide personal information which we indicate is mandatory, we cannot assess your application and you won’t be considered for funding. In some cases where we seek personal information we will indicate that its provision is optional.  If you choose not to provide that personal information, it will not affect your eligibility but in some cases may limit our ability to contact you or to understand aspects of your application. If you do not provide payment and supplier details (ABN/GST status/bank account), we cannot make grant payments even if your application is successful.  

How you can access your personal information  

You may access or seek correction to your personal information pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOI Act) subject to limitations set out in the FOI Act.
