The creative industries experienced a landmark year, with almost $90 million invested across the sector. Milestones included the opening of Perth Film Studios, investment of $30.9 million into the screen production pipeline, support for 220 arts projects and delivery of creative learning opportunities to more than 12,000 students. Demand for the Kids Access All Areas Voucher Program was strong, with all 25,000 vouchers allocated to help families access arts and cultural experiences.  

In sport and recreation, 29,642 children participated in organised sport through KidSport, while more than $70 million was invested through grants to sporting organisations and community groups. The PlayOn WA program delivered 432 community sport infrastructure assets, and Perth welcomed more than 114,000 fans to AFC Women's Asian Cup matches.  

A record $19 million was invested in multicultural communities, supporting community organisations, language programs and cultural celebrations. More than 80,000 people attended major cultural festivals and 18,362 students participated in community language programs. Consultation also progressed on Western Australia's first proposed Multicultural Act.  

The year also saw significant progress in Aboriginal tourism, arts, culture and truth-telling initiatives. 546 Aboriginal history research requests were supported, while the State Records Office continued preserving and providing access to more than one million historical records. Together, these achievements demonstrate the important role these sectors play in growing the economy, strengthening communities and enriching the lives of Western Australians.
