Delivered by Arts Margaret River, the festival is a flagship event in the State’s cultural calendar, attracting acclaimed novelists, journalists, academics and emerging and established storytellers from Western Australia, interstate and overseas.

The funding package includes $58,956 through the Arts Projects for Organisations program supporting the festival’s ongoing role as a major cultural event for the South West that enriches community life, inspires creativity and attracts visitors to the region.

Building on the success of its 2025 pilot, a further $27,586 has been awarded for the festival’s growing community outreach initiative, featuring 29 free or low-cost activities for children, young people and families to explore different cultural themes and creative pathways in Margaret River and Busselton.

The investment reflects the WA Government’s commitment to ensuring regional communities have access to high-quality arts and cultural experiences, while also supporting cultural tourism and economic activity in the South West.

MRRWF takes place over three days from 15-17 May in Margaret River and Busselton, with its Young Readers and Writers Program touring primary and secondary schools for two weeks alongside the main festival.
