Revealed: New and Emerging WA Aboriginal Artists is Western Australia’s biggest celebration of Aboriginal Art, featuring an 8-week exhibition and an open-air art market where people can purchase artworks direct from Aboriginal art centres and independent artists.
Established in 2008, Revealed began as a partnership initiative between the former Department of Culture and the Arts, the Aboriginal Economic Development program within the former Department of Industry and Resources and Central TAFE. From its inception, the program sought to elevate Aboriginal art while creating meaningful economic and professional opportunities for artists across Western Australia. For nearly a decade, Revealed was delivered by Fremantle Arts Centre, whose leadership and presentation of the annual exhibition played a critical role in establishing the program’s strong reputation, reach and audience engagement.
Nearly two decades on, the intent of Revealed remains strong, with its vision, scale and impact continuing to grow. Since it was established, Revealed has generated more than $5 million in sales for Aboriginal artists and arts centres and attracted more than 130,000 visitors to its exhibitions, demonstrating its lasting cultural and economic significance.
In 2024, Revealed entered an exciting new chapter, shifting to an Aboriginal-led model with custodianship transferred to the Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of WA (AACHWA). This marked a significant step toward self-determination, with an Aboriginal-led and governed organisation now guiding the program’s delivery and vision. Revealed is now embedded within AACHWA’s commitment to cultural strength, best practice and the wellbeing of Aboriginal artists.

Today, Revealed is far more than an exhibition and market. It is a vital platform for cultural truth-telling, visibility and opportunity, offering a powerful lens into the depth, diversity and innovation of Aboriginal art practice across Western Australia, from remote communities to urban centres.
The artists and artworks showcased through Revealed share unique narratives of connection to Country, culture and lived experience. Through these stories, audiences gain greater understanding, respect and appreciation for the diversity of Aboriginal cultures across the state. In doing so, Revealed strengthens Western Australia’s cultural identity by ensuring Aboriginal voices, stories and perspectives remain central to the arts landscape.
Importantly, Revealed creates pathways for professional development, new audiences and meaningful connections that support the long-term sustainability of Aboriginal artists and their practice.
“At its heart, Revealed honours the diversity of language groups, materials and methodologies that shape contemporary Aboriginal art. Artists continue to ground their practices in deep cultural memory, interwoven with lived experiences of navigating colonial systems, sustaining community connection; asserting identity in dynamic, ever-evolving environments.” — Curator 2026 Revealed: New & Emerging WA Aboriginal Artists
