Between 2022 and 2025, the WA Hiking Participation Grant Program has invested almost $670,000 to grow hiking, trail running and bushwalking across the State.

Trails WA CEO, Agata Sleeman said sessions across Bells Rapids (Brigadoon), Jorgensen Park (Kalamunda) and Bickley offered beginner friendly experiences.

“Western Australia is home to some incredible trails, many of which are right on our doorstep and waiting to be discovered,” Mrs. Sleeman said.

“By delivering this Intro to Trail Running event series, we’re giving people more reasons to use our trails and helping them build the confidence to explore them in new ways.

It’s a simple but effective way to activate the fantastic trail infrastructure we already have while welcoming new people into the trail community.”

The WA Hiking Participation Grant Program has helped groups like Trails WA engage people with disability,  CaLD communities, seniors and youth.

The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) provides a range of training, grants and support opportunities for sport and recreation groups to deliver healthy and engaging opportunities for WA communities.

For the latest funding and support opportunities explore CITS’ website or email participation@cits.wa.gov.au to see what’s possible.
