The Indian Society of WA (ISWA) marked Indian Independence Day with the signing of a $2.5 million grant agreement to upgrade the Indian Community Centre in Willetton.

The funding will allow the centre to be upgraded to include a larger auditorium, new toilets, kitchens, a service lift and storage. Other upgrades will make the space more accessible for seniors and children.

This funding is part of $15 million worth of commitments made to culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities during the 2025 State Election.

The funding commitments to CaLD community associations will ensure that these groups can remain strong and provide a range of activities, services and programs to the community.

Supporting CaLD communities is part of the Office for Multicultural Interests’ aim to create inclusive communities and achieve the full potential of multiculturalism in Western Australia.
