The Governor has declared that the Celebration Day for the Anniversary of the Birthday of the Reigning Sovereign (King’s Birthday public holiday) will be observed in 2026 on Monday 28 September.
Local governments may request that the public holiday be celebrated on an alternative day of significance within their districts, instead of the date proclaimed as the public holiday for the rest of the State.
Local governments interested in having an alternative date declared for the King’s Birthday public holiday in 2026 should provide a written request which contains:
