“Events like this are a vital pathway for future Olympians, the standard of play is phenomenal and it’s a great opportunity to witness elite talent in action.”
Executive Officer of Badminton WA Rob Kennedy said the event is helping to build passion for the game throughout WA.
“Events like this inspire our juniors, unite our community, showcase our beautiful State and highlight the strong growth of badminton participation and performance,” he said.
“We’re proud to host the nation’s top young players here in WA, with the support of the WA Government and City of Wanneroo.”
The WA Government has gone into bat for the event with a $50,000 grant from the 2025-26 round of the Sport and Recreation Events Funding Program.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the backing we’ve received from the WA Government and the City of Wanneroo, with their support instrumental in bringing this national championship to life,” Mr Weistra said.
“Badminton WA has really stepped up. They are a fantastic partner for hosting major events and after hosting a successful U15 and U19 event last year, they showed strong interest in welcoming the U13 and U17 championships and we couldn’t be happier to return.”
