The 2025 AWESOME Festival officially opened, marking the first major festival presented under the newly formed Barking Gecko Arts - a merger between Awesome Arts and Barking Gecko Theatre Company.
Running from 30 September to 4 October in the Perth CBD and selected dates at regional hubs in Esperance, Kwinana, Beverley and Hopetoun the festival offers children under 12 and their families an exciting program of theatre, dance, music, film, literature, visual arts, and hands-on creative workshops.
Since its launch in 1996, the AWESOME Festival has been a cornerstone of Western Australia's cultural calendar, providing transformative arts experiences designed to spark imagination, creativity and connection among young people.
Renowned for its bold and adventurous programming, this year's AWESOME Festival will transform Perth's CBD into a hub of discovery and play, giving young people the chance to experience the joy and power of the arts.
The WA Government provides ongoing support to Barking Gecko Arts through the Arts Organisation Investment Program, with annual funding of $992,488 to ensure children and families across the State continue to benefit from inspiring cultural experiences.
