From 1 July 2025, the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) replaces the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC).
Intro
There are now more than 1000 banned persons on the BDR which applies to the Pilbara, Kimberley, Goldfields, Carnarvon, and Gascoyne Junction.
This means people buying takeaway/packaged alcohol must present an approved photo ID to be scanned before the sale can be completed.
If you are thinking of visiting an area where the measure is in place, make sure you have the required ID. This is really important for visitors from Australian states that have converted to digital identification.
The BDR is strongly supported by a wide range of stakeholders, including WA Police, local governments, health service providers, the liquor industry, and the broader community.
