Intro

Being online is part of sporting life for athletes, coaches, and officials.

It’s a great way to communicate, connect and develop your profile and reputation. However, having a public profile in sport can increase the risk of online abuse. People across all sports, from local to international level, can be targeted.

This presentation will provide guidance on:

  • types of online abuse
  • the impacts of online abuse
  • setting up your personal social media accounts with safety in mind
  • proactive actions and de-escalation strategies
  • how to report abuse
  • support services and free resources.

The webinar is suitable for participants over 18 years of age and will be helpful to:

  • athletes, coaches, and officials managing personal accounts
  • those involved in supporting sport participants, such as coaching, development, integrity, wellbeing and other staff
  • parent/carers of under-18 sport participants.
