Intro

Member Protection Information Officers (MPIOs) are an integral part of all levels of Australia sport, especially grassroots sport. MPIOs are there to listen to issues raised by members of any sport before triaging and referring them to the right place to find a resolution. The MPIO is responsible for providing information about a person's rights, responsibilities and options to an individual making a complaint or raising a concern, as well as information support during the process.

MPIO training content:

  • Identify your sport’s child safeguarding and member protection policies and relevant complaint handling contacts
  • Explain the responsibilities of a Member Protection Information Officer in a sporting organisation
  • Utilise skills in listening, decision making and trauma-informed practice
  • Identify if a matter raised is a potential breach of your organisation’s policy
  • Advise on options available to participants who have witnessed or experienced a potential breach of prohibited conduct
  • Advise on activities clubs can take to promote safe, fair and inclusive sport.

Prior to the session, attendees will be emailed a Workbook covering pre-workshop reading and activities that will be referred to in the workshop. A TEAMS link will be sent to the email provided prior to course commencement.

Attendees will be able to access an MPIO Training Certificate from the Play by the Rules/Sport Integrity Australia eLearning Platform following the workshop.
